Illustration to the fic "Merlin and his dog" by Mummi.
It's a gen story about Snape slowly dying in muggle hospital from snake venom, thinking he'd lost his magic - and meeting a very strange black dog - or Black the dog...

Thank you for kind words; you know, this detailing takes its time, and I appreciate when someone notices them all, not only the main figures)

This is gorgeous!! Severus looks like an angel. I love his long, slender fingers. I've been searching and searching for an image of Padfoot that fits the one in my head, and you captured him perfectly. At first I thought he was a borzoi, but the topline is all wrong for borzois, and the stop is too angled. I just went hunting around for close likenesses and finally settled on the Deerhound, another large sight hound ([link]). What do you think? Is this the dog you pictured in your head when you drew it? Thank you so much for sharing this!

Thank you a lot. This is an illustration to the fic written from the person of Snape, when he first met the hound he thought about newfoundland. Being a very poor expert in dogs' breeds I found some images in web but considered these dogs were too round-shaped, all fluffy, lacked stark sharpness. So I let my imagination reign, took a head from borzoi (nod to the Blacks' crest), tail from cabaret dancers (a boa, lol), and tried to cover as much amount of dog's body as possible with the figure of Snape.

I didn't know about deerhounds until today, and I find one of them to be an impressive Padfoot.

I always think of Snape as a cat person, but this is incredibly beautiful!

Thank you.
Actually I don't think of him as a pets person at all; maybe plants person - virulent carnivorous ones? But this is an illustration, I had to follow the text.

This is beautiful! I love the composition... especially the scars on his neck and the look in the dog's eyes. Gorgeous!
